Academic Advising

Is Dr. Smiley your academic advisor at Belmont? If so, read on to learn about how advising works and what is expected of you during this process.

Spring/Maymester/Summer 2026 Advising & Registration is here!

I have provided in-depth instructions for the advising and registration process in the "Advising & Registration Guide", below. Please read this document first - and please don't ask me any questions about advising or registration until you have read this document in its entirety. It will answer many of your burning questions! Additionally, it discusses the option for expedited advising where you can complete the advising process without the need for a meeting, if you qualify.

All students will need to complete the advising form here, regardless of if you are doing Standard or Expedited Advising. You must be signed in to your myBelmont account to complete the form: Online Advising Form

If using a Standard Advising Appointment, sign up here: Standard Advising Meeting Sign-Up

In addition the Advising & Registration Guide, I have also included several additional documents that may be helpful to you:
  1. Psychological Science Major Requirements Checklist - This provides a list of the major requirements and classes that satisfy them (updated Fall 2025).
  2. Example Four Year Plan for Psychological Science Majors - This document should give you an idea of what your four years at Belmont as a Psychological Science major could look like. You do NOT need to follow this example, but it shows a nicely balanced schedule that should allow you to finish in four years.
  3. Psychology Course Descriptions - A brief summary of what to expect in each course. This document does NOT include pilot courses or courses that are not officially in the catalog yet.

To use any of the hyperlinks in the documents below, download the document to your computer first - there are some issues if you try to open the links directly from the preview of the document on this website.
